I believe that in order to enhance and strengthen ones mastery as an artist it is vital to work outside the comfort zone, push the limits, and try as many different methods and mediums as possible.
When working out this course I knew I wanted to offer a fresh way of creating, something that was different than my previous online workshops, and something that would help each artist/student expand and invigorate the work they have already established. In this 5 week online course I will share with you several ways to help you do this.
We will be working in charcoal, graphite, ink, pastels, acrylics, oils, collage, and whatever else I can throw in.
How is each week set up?
Each week there will be a different theme/prompt to choose from. There will be one or several folders of varying artist's work from different eras and/or concepts, and we will choose one or more pieces of work to study, analyze, and connect with. We will then explore ways to create an entirely new work of art using the chosen theme, artwork, and several mediums. Each week I will demonstrate how I approach each theme, while being influenced by the art I feel connected to, and using several different mediums.
I will explain the course in more detail once you have signed up, but this is an example of how each week will be set up:
The theme may be People. Using this theme you will then choose one or two pieces of art from a given folder, one might be Modern Art and the other may be Photography. You will then study and dissect the chosen work, figuring out how and why you connect with it. From there you will recreate the work in a new way, creating your own work that is influenced by the weekly theme and artwork being studied.
How many demonstrations will there be?
There will be several weekly demonstrations. If you have taken any of my online workshops in the past you know that I do not like to skimp on material. Like Andy Warhol once said… "I don't think less is more. More is better". :)
How long will I have access to all the content of the workshop? Until January 2019
How much is the course? $150 ON SALE NOW 50% off $75
“When you're in a rut, you have to question everything except your ability to get out of it." - Twyla Tharp
How is it different from your past courses?
Like my previous courses, it's all about showing up, getting messy, enjoying the ride, and learning something on the way. Techniques may overlap, but everything is fresh. There will be a strong effort to study other artwork and look beyond their subjects and mediums, and really try to feel and be influenced by the style and emotions of their work.. And then, as usual, my goal is to inspire you to get into the studio and create!
Do I need any previous experience to take this course?
No. I try to teach in a way that benefits the novice and the skilled artists.
Do I have to buy all the supplies on the materials list?
Of course not. Try to make what you already have work and go from there. But if you're like me, art supplies are a wonderful luxury to indulge in.
What if I get behind?
No worries. You have time to work at your own pace.
The material will be available until January 2017
Do I have to join the FB Group?
Absolutely not! But it really is a great way to share yourself, see what others are working on, inspire and be inspired by others in the course, and just connect with other artists.
