Half Collage / Half Painting
For this exercise I wanted to bring together collage and painting, but keep them separate. Even though the piece is not perfectly ½ + ½, it's kind of close... 2/3 and 1/3 just isn't as catchy.
For this exercise you will be making a piece of art that is half (or however much you'd like) collage and half painting.
I worked on 11" x 14" cotton paper. I used an older painting I did for reference. Sometimes it's just nice to do this when you have a painting that you have done and felt connected to it and wish to recreate it. For my paint I used Quinacridone Nickel Azo Gold, Raw Umber, Payne's Grey, Portrait Pink, and Titanium White.
Once I added the collage I decided to tint it with a small amount of Payne's Grey to make it feel a bit more cohesive.
