For this lesson I layered vintage papers on top of mixed media paper, gluing a layer down with my glue stick. I then added a layer of acrylic paint to paint in the background, allowing some of the vintage papers to show through the paint. I then loosely used a reference image (it's below if you would like to use it, too) of a lady holding two birds. I sketched it out with a black stabilo pencil and then began painting it in. Once sketched out I no longer used the reference image, but worked intuitively, creating a very painterly painting.

It's impossible to explain creativity. It's like asking a bird, 'How do you fly?' You just do.
